Hochgratbahn & summit experience

Hop aboard, ride up, and marvel – the Hochgratbahn cable car takes you to an altitude of 1.834 meters in just a few minutes, right into the heart of summit bliss. Once at the top, a 360° panorama with views of four countries awaits, one that will knock your socks off: the Allgäu Alps, Lake Constance, and sometimes even the Zugspitze. Those who like it can hike along the "Airy Ridge" – spectacular, but not for the faint-hearted. For everyone else, there's homemade cake with a view of the summit on the sun terrace. Conclusion: High up has rarely been so comfortable!

Buchenegger waterfalls

Wild, roaring, and simply beautiful—the Buchenegg Waterfalls are a true natural spectacle in the heart of the Allgäu region. On the hiking trail through forests and meadows, you can hear the rushing water from afar, until suddenly, turquoise water plunges between moss-covered rocks. In summer, the brave even dare to jump into the ice-cold pool—adrenaline rush guaranteed. For everyone else, just marveling at the view is more than enough. And yes: The snack afterward tastes twice as good here.

Between dream world and tower room

Neuschwanstein Castle

It couldn't be more fairytale-like: Neuschwanstein Castle towers above the Bavarian mountains like a picture – and looks as if Disney himself had put his hand to it. Inside: magnificent halls, golden chandeliers, and a touch of royal megalomania. Outside: a view that would have left even King Ludwig II speechless (and he was not usually one to mince words). Since 2025, the castle has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it not only a landmark of the region but also a significant piece of world history. If you don't get a dream here, you're probably made of concrete. Tip: Get there early – you're not the only one with castle fever.

Skywalk Allgäu

Here, the ground shakes – but only a little! At the Skywalk Allgäu, you'll walk through the treetops at heights of up to 40 meters and experience nature in a whole new way: with views, fresh air, and a little butterflies in your stomach. The forest roars below, while above you marvel at the mountains. There are also adventure stations, suspension bridges, and enough photo opportunities to last you three vacations. And the best part? You don't have to climb a single peak.

A journey through time with heart, craftsmanship and a sense of home.

Farmhouse Museum

Back to the good old days – with creaking floorboards, smoky rooms, and plenty of Allgäu charm. At the Allgäu-Oberschwaben Farmhouse Museum, you'll experience what it was really like back then: no Wi-Fi, but instead with cowsheds, tractors, and the romanticism of wood-fired ovens. Old farmhouses, lovingly furnished, tell stories from a time when cheese was still homemade and bread was baked in clay ovens. Pure nostalgia – but with a learning effect. And yes: The museum bakery smells heavenly.

Old walls, a youthful flair, and a touch of student life make Kempten a perfect mix of culture and city life. Ideal for anyone who wants a taste of big city life between mountain hikes and wellness. In short: truly lively – and wonderfully relaxed.

Alpine cattle drive

When the cows come home in Steibis, things really get lively – the Viehscheid (cattle drive) is where tradition meets festive spirit, and a little goosebumps. The ringing of bells, decorated animals, and shepherds in traditional costume: Here, the Alpabtrieb doesn't roll silently into the valley, but with music, market stalls, and a sense of home. The scent of mountain cheese and fresh country air fills the air, children marvel, adults revel – and everyone joins in the celebration. A true Allgäu experience that gets under your skin. And yes: The cows definitely steal the show.
